The aim of this course is to provide business people and professional managers with limited knowledge of financial matters with the most basic financial information that will enable them to understand the financial structure of the company. Who is Tahir Sumer?
Tahir Sümer graduated from METU Business Administration Department and started his professional career at an export company in Izmir in 1980 and continued his professional career at Citibank Izmir Branch in 1982. In 1985, he left his position as Assistant IT Manager at Citibank and joined Union Carbide Turkey Inc. as Assistant General Manager of Financial and Administrative Affairs. as a police officer. In the following years, he served as assistant general manager and board member responsible for financial, administrative, legal affairs, IT, logistics and human resources in agrochemical, computer hardware, software and logistics companies. In 1998, he established his own training and consultancy business, providing numerous trainings and consultancy services to a number of companies on many subjects, especially accounting and finance. In 2000, he joined the management team of TBWA Advertising Agency as a member of the board of directors and Vice President of the Agency (CFO) responsible for financial and administrative affairs and information technology, a position he held for 16 years. During this period, he served on the Board of Directors of the Advertising Foundation for 6 years. On December 31, 2015, Tahir Sümer retired from professional management and settled in Izmir and continues to work as an educator and consultant.
Tahir Sümer has been continuing his training activities, which he started with FED Training company in 1998, uninterruptedly since then. He has given more than a thousand trainings in Turkey and abroad on finance, accounting, customer credit-risk management, international money markets, foreign trade and many other similar subjects, took part in Doğuş University teaching staff for 2 semesters in 2000 (Introduction to Foreign Trade and Banking Operations and Services courses), provided consultancy services to various companies on subjects such as mergers and acquisitions (A&M), management accounting system design and applications and still continues these activities.
